Positive times for Joy Division fans are in the making! A freshly minted NFT music project is set to stage animated versions of the renowned band’s ‘Unknown Pleasures’ album artworks alongside never-heard vocal clips from the late lead singer, Ian Curtis, on the NFT hub, Pace Verso, from October 9-13. 

The co-founder of Factory Records and the brainchild behind the iconic album cover, Peter Saville, teamed up with the drummer of Joy Division (and New Order), Stephen Morris, to craft the NFT project ‘CP1919’. The collectibles will bring a new lease of life to the celebrated album, which sold over a million international copies during its release year in the 1970s. 

The CP1919 digital assets convert the album cover’s sonic into pulsar form, seamlessly merging the artwork with rare cuts of the band’s voice. Lovers of Joy Division can shortly tap into two separate enticing 3D versions of the sleeve art, similarly spotlighting radio waves emerging from a collapsed star like the original.

The Evolution of Joy Division’s Unknown Pleasures

The two separate artworks ready to make waves on Pace Verso are ‘CP1919: Sweeping Sun White 2023’ and ‘CP1919: Sweeping Sun Black 2023’. Both present the Unknown Pleasures masterpiece in one-of-a-kind monochromatic designs. The white version will be available in limitless copies of the never-listened-to-before Joy Division samples. Contrastingly, the black edition is a singular edition featuring new Joy Division vocal fragments inside an ambient soundtrack. Additionally, the latter will be delivered to buyers on a hard drive in a custom-designed case.

Proceeds from the NFT sales will support the initiative dedicated to preventing suicides in the UK, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) — a charity that profoundly resonates with the band, given Curtis’ tragic passing in 1980.

To this day, the original illustration of Unknown Pleasures is not just found on the album cover itself but also on t-shirts, fans’ tattooed skin, and more worldwide. LimeWire’s Legal Battles to Blockchain Pursuits

When LimeWire was first brought to life, it was quintessential for millennials to download and experience digital music. However, it soon became infamous for its prominent role in contributing to piracy, raising concerns within the Recording Industry Association of America and beyond.

Ten years later, Austrian siblings Paul and Julian Zehetmayer snatched up LimeWire’s intellectual property, and in March 2022, the platform was transformed into a marketplace for digital assets. A follow-up funding round of $10 million included participation from Kraken, Arrington Capital, and GSR, boosting the platform to greater heights.

With the capital, LimeWire enhanced its focus on the NFT market, striving to democratize the digital asset world. To achieve such a target, the company debuted a limited-time simulation game whereby players could tune into musical hits of the early 2000s, with in-game rewards styled as $LWMR (which still remains under wraps). Moreover, it formed an NFT partnership with Universal Music Group and joined forces with Ibiza super clubs to distribute free entry tickets through NFTs. Its future is now unfolding. 

Although the platform’s past may have been mired in legal controversies, the future of LimeWire AI Creator Studio appears bright. As a result of the exciting release, Gala has launched 1000 NFT editions of each of the 11 tracks on the album. These are effectively claimable by those who completed the scavenger hunt in the lead up to the launch, with any left over available to purchase for $225 apiece. However, anyone with a Gala Account can stream the album for free.

VOIR DIRE Emerges Via the Cutting-Edge Gala Music Platform

Mr. Sweatshirt first teased the existence of the album back in 2021, where he hinted at its publication via an anonymous YouTube burner account. Despite searching frantically for the elusive release, however, fans have never managed to locate the mighty collaboration for themselves.

This inability to track down VOIR DIRE via YouTube eventually led to the rapper circulating the album via other means. To achieve this, he left a series of clues relating to the release via QR codes dotted around his latest tour. These codes, then directed fans to a mysterious Gala page that unbeknownst to them created a Gala wallet that they can now use to claim the NFTs.

When asked why he chose NFTs and Gala Music to finally release the album, Earl has replied with only a few short words: “They didn’t find the album on YouTube.”

Bolero Gets off to a Flying Start

To get its innovative new Song Share feature up and running, Bolero secured the services of French DJ, Rilès. Where the team then launched an NFT series based on his hit song ‘Brothers’ which he released back in 2016. Following the first month, Bolero totalled up the revenue from the track, and estimated an inflation beating 9.2% annual return on the initial investment.

Taking things a little further, Bolero then upped its game with fractional ownership to a brand new track from famed French DJ Agoria, the fruits of which, will reveal themselves over the coming months!
